Esperit Roca is a transformative hospitality experience by the renowned Roca brothers that is situated in a reformed 19th century fortress outside of Girona. The interior design of the extensive property was overseen by Andreu Carulla and includes a boutique hotel, distillery, a wine cellar, exhibition space and a gastronomic restaurant. Carulla’s thoughtful, slightly brutalist yet poetic design is rooted in the landscape and the region’s traditional building techniques. Wood, stone, terracotta and aged metal reflect the rugged beauty of the surroundings and the distinctive style of the Roca brand.
Carulla’s design for the property’s restaurant, Esperit Roca, embraces soft, muted earth-tones with concrete walls, stone accents and warm lighting to create a space that evokes an understated sophistication and a welcoming atmosphere. In the bathrooms, they selected the Tura Roca Rimless® wall-hung WC, designed by Carulla, for a cohesive aesthetic. Like the restaurant itself, the sculptural design of the WC is inspired by the Mediterranean landscape of the region. They also selected the Loft electronic mixer, which integrates naturally into a rough-hewn stone basin. The almost industrial form of the faucet complements the rawness of the stone and darkened space, while the electronic technology provides water efficiency and simplicity.
